I believe that we all have the possibility to change in a positive way but sometimes, we get stuck and no matter what we try we can’t seem to move on. Let me give you a couple of examples:
I just can't put it out of my mind - Consider how in the normal course of things good memories fade and yet those bad ones just won't go away. If you have any bad memories that you can recall vividly, the ones that keep distressing you, we can find an effective way to release them and you.
I have a medical problem, this can't help me - If you have a diagnosis of illness we can work on the emotions that have become attached to it so that you are able to cope better. What do I mean? Well for example, if you have 5 broken discs in your back, we can’t take that away. You have them. That is a fact. But we can release some of the fears about your back; the worries of what you can and can’t do, the pain that affects you, the fear of the future and especially the progression of the illness.
I try really hard, it just never works for me - If you keep trying and failing to give up smoking or to lose weight and keep it off we can locate the root cause of why you always go back to it no matter how much you’d like to take control.
My nerves always get the better of me - If you find that stress and anxiety are sabotaging your success we can develop your self-confidence and coping strategies.
How dare they say that! - Somebody said something unpleasant to you ages ago and it still bothers you. You know logically that it shouldn’t, but it does. And you can’t forget it. Why should you, even if you could? It hurts! We can work together to take the pain out of the situation and stop you being so…..angry, hurt and confused.
Let’s let go of the self-limiting beliefs; the ‘I can’t do that’ or ‘I’m not good enough’ stories we tell ourselves. You may be thinking it's not that easy to let go, but it is possible to address the root cause of issues and by working in a gentle but, effective way we can shift the bad stuff and break the cycle.
Never under estimate the power of the mind to restrict and limit you, but also to change and to be healed.
